| Lets
us take first tale of IPL - Lalit Modi had to contend with Strong challenge by
the Indian Cricket League and a strong protest by the English cricket board as
the season clashed with the county season. Plus
it was an untested concept of the city teams and the timings were clashing with
the India's favourite saas bahu soaps. It was not easy for him and skeptics predicted
doom, but today every cricket board is jumping to launch the replica of the IPL
model So what were the success factors
: 1) The idea was good but the execution
was flawless - right from the framing of rules to revenue sharing, to auctions
of team and players, to telecast deals, everything was planned and worked out
to the minutest detail. 2) IPL also
brought in Corporate Honchos and Bollywood big guys. And very big money along
with them. They had a lot at stake and therefore took sufficient effort to market
their team. And in the process, IPL had outsourced the role of marketing itself..
The corporate culture also got a professional touch, which is generally missing
with the sports administration across the country. 3)
Handling of competition BCCI used
its influence with the ICC and other cricket boards to label the ICL as rebel
and non official. Devoid of legitimacy ICL just withered and is a former shadow.
Had it been not promoted by the money bag and Media Moghul Subhash Goel it would
have died a natural death. 4)Importance of media There are a few things
which made IPL a grand success.. One of the biggest factors was undoubtedly Media..
The amount of coverage news paper, TV channels, FM Radios etc.. have been giving
to IPL is just unbelievable. If BCCI had not relaxed its criteria with the press,
before the beginning of the tournament. BCCI would have just messed up things..
Media was the biggest factor for IPLs success
.. IPL
is yet another huge success, which was completely 'MADE IN INDIA'.. One more reason
for India Inc to be proud!! People are already thinking of replicating this model
elsewhere.
| A
state battered and devastated by the worst ever Bhuj earthquake in 2001 and then
the infamous - Godhra riots which sullied the image of Gujarat and shocked the
entire nation. Gujarat and Narendra Modi have come a long way over the last seven
years. The best chief minister, an
able administrator and a tough boss, he has pulled Gujarat from the brink and
is the most competent political leader from either side of the spectrum which
have full of either the next generation baba log, who have inherited the political
mantle or the divisive and self serving politicians. Narendra
Modi, is different with no fawning coterie surrounding him and no hangars on.
He derives the power from good governance,
people friendly policies development and no non sense administrator who believes
in the work being done. He has been able to invoke the pride in Gujarat. And has
successfully targeted the famed Gujarati community all over the world to be the
part of the Gujarat success story. Coupled with the business friendly policies
and the assurance of safety, investors are flocking to Gujarat.
The coup of shifting of the Nano factory from Bengal to Gujarat on the face of
the stiff competition is a good example of the Modi prowess. Gujarat
has grabbed almost a quarter of the total All India investment till March 208. His
other achievements are : 1) Successful
inter linking of the rivers so that Sabarmati does not remain dry. 2)
His resolve to stamp out terrorism, while other politicians use it to score political
points is really admirable. Ahmedabad police was the first one to crack the bomb
blast and give useful intelligence input resulting in the Batla House encounter
in Delhi. 3) His current pet concept
of rurban(rural and urban) culture-providing the urban facilities like uninterrupted
24 hours power and broadband connectivity in rural areas is drawing huge accolades. 4)
Gujarat had a revenue deficit of 6700 crores in 2001 when Modi came into power
and now it has a revenue surplus of Rs. 25,00 crores.
