Judge people? Test their body?

HEAD

What is in the Head ?

This stems from the belief that you can teach smart people anything but cannot teach a dumb person how to become smart. The strongest proponent of this is Bill Gates.

The raw intelligence is the most wanted quality and it can be tested by asking brain teasers like "Why are manholes round ?" or stupid questions like "How may barbers are there in Mumbai.?" The correct answer is not important but how you arrive at the answer is important. The problem solving skills are tested here.

Hands

How good are the people with hands ?

This means what extra skills he/she brings to the table apart from what skills are required for the job. These are the extra skills. These extra skills will lead the person to his/her next promotion.

Can a finance guy do a presentation or make a sale. A HR person being good with numbers or a Sales guy being a good people manager are some example of the extra skills. It is like having a bit of an all rounder.

Shoulder

How broad are the shoulders ?

Is the person willing to take new responsibility without expecting any returns. Lot of people claim that they are looking for exposure but once the extra responsibilities are thrust on them they will make any kind of excuse to palm it off. The excuse might range from being to busy to lacking required skills or it being somebody else's responsibility.

Heart
How big is their heart?

The heart means passion. It does not mean just willingness but also the guts to take the risk and the desire to win. Is the person willing to sacrifice to win in the end. It is like in a game of cricket where the fielders dive, throw or slide to save a run risking injury. The players are ready to take the risk of injury knowing fully well that it might affect their fitness for future games. That is the passion which makes a person a winner.
